About Sarah Michiko

Hi! I am new to blogging so I figured I would start off by telling you a little about myself. I received my bachelors from Endicott College in Massachusetts in business administration with a focus in marketing from in May of 2015. Although I grew up with a family jewelry business, I was never certain that I would end up in this industry. Somehow after graduation I found myself working my first job in the jewelry industry at a Zales retail store in Salem, NH. After being there for a few months I realized that this is something that would interest me and possibly be the profession I could see myself entering. That fall I started my first class at the Gemological Institute of America in the Diamond District of NYC. Even though the classes are extremely intense and sometimes terrifying it helped me realize how much I loved this field. I received certifications in AutoCAD and Diamond Grading by the end of March 2016. Immediately afterwards, I started my career at my family business, Platinum Plus Designs. Here I put everything I had studied into practice by focusing on custom orders and learning the jewelry manufacturing process. In my spare time at Platinum Plus, I started my own brand and company - Sarah Michiko Designs. With the help of my family's business I was able to create and produce the pieces you see and wear today.
